I wanted to report this since it caused us endless trauma and it was overall a really horrible experience. The airbnb customer service reps did not do anything and dragged it on for 2 weeks before our reservation was cancelled by the hose without our knowledge for no reason at all.
They had no control and were unable to provide an alternate. We have a small child and to put him and us through this was absolutely terrible.
The host was mentally unstable and passive aggressive and unavailable at all times. Her house had upto 15 people and wouldnt share the number beforehand. She wouldnt meet or show us the house before we booked it either.
Airbnb inherently has to ovehaul the product for situations like these. Almost everything in the home is broken and it wasn't told to us beforehand. There is a lot of hiding going on by the host.
After the cancellation airbnb did refund our money but the emotional stress that we went through for the two weeks and to be told that the locks changed on us the middle of the workday was really really stressful.
I will never use airbnb again.
most hosts are also very flaky - will promise and won't honor it later.
