I have purchased a dining room setat the Brick in Prince George. This was a floor model and therefore marked down. At the time the sales person pointed out a crack in the mirror and a broken clip on the door.I did not think that was a big issue and decided to buy it. Two days later, my friend who owns a commercial, covered trailer went to pick it up. The warehouse personnel had shrink wrapped the entire set and as my friend and a couple of guys from the warehouse went to load it, my friend noticed additional damage to the china cabinet and hutch and pointed it out before loading. As I was not there he took it home for me.He showed me all the damage he had seen so I quickly called the brick and spoke with the salesperson I had been dealing with. The only response I got from her was that they would take another $100.00 off. I told her that was not acceptable. The buffet and hutch look like it came from the garbage dump with chunks of wood that fell off as we unwrapped it. All the clips holding the side glass in were broken and the glass laying on the bottom Back of the hutch on the back corner had been pulled away and broken not to mention all the big scratches all over it and on the table. I took pictures as I was getting nowhere with pone calls, went to Prince George and spoke again with the sales person and she took me to see her project manager. That lady was not very nice and as much as called me a liar, would not even look at the pictures of the unit. As she is standing in front of a wall with a caption in very large black letters that read, "OUR COMMITMENT IS TO OUR CUSTOMER" I read that out loud and asked, "Am I not a customer" To which she made no reply. I have to tell you that after purchasing a houseful of furniture all at one time (my house burnt down 11 mths ago and I have just moved into my new home) I was not treated very well. If they had been willing to take this set back, I was prepared to purchase a different set at full price. My complaint is not just against the brick itself but the people in management in that particular location.
Yours truly,
Suzie(Personal Information Removed)

A response would be greatly appreciated!!!

  • That's the price you pay for cheaping out and not paying for delivery. It sucks to hear that said so bluntly but it's the unfortunate truth. When you do it yourself, or even worse, have friends do it for you "without" your presence, there's no recourse for you because the damages COULD have happened enroute. When you pay for someone's services (delivery), the onus is on them to do the job properly. While they were unpacking it you would have had the opportunity then to refuse delivery.... and without having possession of the product, simply get your money back.

It really sucks they didn't help you out though since it sounds like you furnished your entire house with them, especially considering the total amount you probably spent there. That's horrible service. Most of the crap they sell is all cheap import garbage anyways and would have cost them only $300 by taking it back, writing it off as damaged goods, and offered you a few different options.

Hard lesson but pay the $60 or $70, whatever it is, for delivery next time. And most importantly, everyone is busy, we all only have 24 hours in a day, but take the time to show up for your own purchases as, in the end, it's ultimately your responsibility. That doesn't excuse the poor service though.
