We bought two math books from SWadvantage in late July. We signed a paper
thinking it was a receipt, and we payed for the books using a check. In
June, my husband just happened to read on his Bank account statement an
electronic withdrawal for $19.95 from SWadvantage. We did not even know who
SWadvantage was at that point. Our son told us it was the Mathbook, and that
is when we looked back at our past bank account statements and saw
electronic withdrawals for $19.95 every month starting in November 2011. We
had no idea we had any dealings with SWadvantage. For eight months, we never
recieved a contact from SWadvantage of any kind. They just quietly took our
money. I have never heard of doing business with a company who didn't
communicate with a customer at some point. Netflix, eBay, Amazon, Proactive,
the Flat Belly Diet, Joyschool, Apple... They ALL check in with the
customer, even if it is just a quarterly newsletter. We never accessed the
SWadvantage math account because we never knew it existed! If we had known
it existed, we would have shut it off and not used it anyway. So, basically,
we gave them $19.95 for eight months. Now I realize that they didn't break
the law legally, because we did sign the paper, and I wish my husband would
have seen that electronic withdrawal, but they deceived us by their
Don't-ask don't-tell attitude. It amazes me, that we can be on such intimate
terms with SWadvantage that they know my first and last name, my address,
and my bank account number, but when I called to tell them of this
injustice, no one would give me their last name! We have called repeatedly
to explain that we should not have to pay for something we didn't realize
was in existence, and was never used. If one person reads this and does not
buy anything from SWadvantage, I will have caused that wretched company
double what they stole from me.

  • same thing happened to me. i bought homework video from door to door salesman. i noticed today that they took my check numbers and started drawing money out. for 4 months. im calling my bank now to stop any more payments to these sneaky aholes. DONT BUY ANY THING FROM THESE PEOPLE.

  • They came here to Allegan county Mi and they did everything you all posted. Thank you so much. While they were here I googled they company and saw your posts. They got nervousness when I came back in. I opened my drawer in the kitchen so they could not see and said you have 5 Seconds to get out that door. They jumped up so fast and ran. Our poor neighbors were not so lucky. I will be looking for them and they better hope I do not find these crooks. I consider this a crime and it does not pay. That's all I have to say.

  • Makes me mad to think that they came into my house, tried to take control involving my kids then trying to con and rob me right in my own house. Does this company realize the danger they are putting sales people in?

  • Um......Yeah, you obviously didn't listen to everything that was being said to u when u purchased the books. Because had u listened u would have realized the $19.95 fee was so ur child would be able to access the website each month and that u could cancel that suncscription at anytime. My daughter loves it. We just purchased the math books this summer. I feel confident that the lessons available online are sure to benefit her. You shouldn't slam a company when u didn't listen to all the facts. And if you contacted ur bank telling them that wasn't an approved purchase they then block that company so they can no longer do any transactions including refunds. So yes u have to contact the bank.
