We signed up for a credit card processing company and machines. The company did provide machines that unfortunately did not work correctly(we had a wireless unit which we had to go stand in the street to batch out). After a few months the unit died and we were unable to accept credit cards. We contacted the company and were told the battery had died and that a new battery would cost $50(it's like a cell phone battery). We ended up ordering a battery which did not fix our problem so we called back and were told that we needed to pay $300 for a replacement machine. We took our contract to a lawyer who said it was one of the craziest contracts he had ever seen, but would contact the company for us. After he contacted them they were still uncooperative and demanded money which we paid. We also got replacement equipment to allow processing once again. About a month later that equipment died we called and explained the situation and got the run around again. We knew we were stuck with the lease we called and told them we wanted to return the equipment, but they refuse to take it back. They have put my company out of business due to not being able to accept payments from my customers they continued to hit my bank account until the bank closed it. Last week I got a letter dated 2/25/12 in the mail (I received it on 3/14/12) offering "Amnesty" so from the tone of the letter it sounded as though they wanted to cooperate finally. So I called them I got some 30ish black man that told me I needed to pay I told him the company is insolvent and that we had no money, but are currently in the process of selling what equipment we still have off to get money to pay the remaining bills. I also told him that if their equipment had worked that we would not have gone out of business he told me it was a processing problem and not an equipment problem then started yelling at me so of course I hung up. I called back got some woman that was talking to me normally. I explained the letter and read it and the date the response I got was "that can't be the date on the letter you must pay 287.40 by Friday or we will follow legal action" (note according to the letter I have until Monday). I am unsure if this Neil Scott guy even exists as it is who the letter is(not) signed by they used the name, but there is no signature.

The letter in it's entirety:

Re: Lease #1749498
During a recent audit of your lease account it has come to our attention that there are unresolved issues, which have resulted in your account becoming increasingly delinquent. Our department has been assinged to determine what the outstanding issues are and evaluate if you qualify for any mondifaction of your existing lease.

There are a number of possible solutions offered through the Credit Amnesty Program including lease buyout, settlement, payment plan/extension, lease termination, elimination of qualifying fees, etc.

Please call me at 1-866-269-5957 between 9:00AM-5:00PM M-F and I will do my utmost to work out a resolution with you. This offer of Amnesty is good for 30 days from the date on the letter, after which further collection activities will commence. Please contact us immediately in order to avoid potential actions such as:

Lease acceleration - Remaining payments/balance is due immediately.
Legal action - You are responsible for all remaining payments, equipment cost, fees, court costs.

Sincerely,

Neil Scott

Funny thing is they deny that this letter even exists.
