I received an advertisement that said the cost would be free. Then when you start the process it starts adding up. After search engins, domain name for a year, additionall domain names and the cost for the site itself it comes to over 300.00.
I was fortunate for the entire transaction did not go through only $171.00. Brain Host has a 30 day money back guerentee but they do not honor it. I have spoken to them by phone and have sent three emails and thus far they have not refunded my money. The first two responses were why was I unhappy and please do not quit. the third response by the same person stated they did not have that authority and everything goes through Click bank which is contrary to the discussion via phone call with their customer representative and with the prior two responses of the first two emails. i still have two weeks left to receive restitution and my refund but I do not advocate for this business and I believe they should be penalized for their false advertising and their contradictions in their policies and procedures of refunding your money if you are unsatisfied.
Thank you.

- As per my complaint on 11/15/2011 in the amount of 206.84, brainhost refunded all but 14.95 of my money. They said that the 14.95 was for the domain fee for one year. I still believe they are ripping people off and I disagree with all of this.they claim that Icann, whatever that is permits them to keep this amount. I intend to send all of this to the attorney general in Florida.

Yes, as per ICANN law, you retain ownership of your domain for one year. This is why we cannot refund the domain registration fee. Even though you canceled your hosting and took down your website, you still own the domain name, we can't take it back. You are free to continue to use the domain name, sell it, etc.
