i was being blocked from a transaction at a shopping website that i use a lot. i intially thought it was the web site itself but it wasn't. so i called (i thought i called) my internet security provider thinking that my protection was blocking it. they identified themselves as my internet security provider and then transferred me to guruaid. i thought that was a bit weird and should have listened to my intuition but didn't. they talked me into a year service and supposedly fixed the issue. this morning i get on the computer, go to my shopping site and the same issue is there. i call them back to get more help and they are asking me to bring the website up so they can connect me to a technician and it is blocked by my internet security. as they were getting someone else to help and while i was staring at this screen saying "bad website, may harm your computer, sending malware", i hung up. i looked up my internet security's number and noticed it was a different number. i called and an american guy answered .. the people i had been talking to were in india. he told me there was no call from me yesterday, what number did i call and i looked in my phone and gave it to him. he said .. "that is a scam, we would never transfer you to a different department or a different service to help you". he said this wasn't the first time this had happened and that guruaid was impersonating them and they could get away with it because they were in another country. i of course was livid.. at myself more than anything else but the fact they were so sweet and so helpful.. makes me sick!!!! luckily, my bank took the charge off and closed my card. the fact that i had to do that pisses me off greatly. i had even left a review about guruaid yesterday that was a good review. that was before i knew i had been scammed. DON'T DEAL WITH THEM!!! they want your credit card number and from what this guy told me, they treat you like crap afterwards and that the people there are hit and miss as far as knowledge goes and like other people said.. they make issues on your computer so they can look like they are doing something or to get you to spend more money. it's too bad they can't be prosecuted, this is down right fraud.
