I worked in the Suddenlink call center. We take calls from customers for 8 hours a day with 2-15 minute breaks &, on a lucky day we have 1 hour for lunch. They are constantly cutting our lunch back to 30 minutes. We get cursed out, hung up on, listen to the most atrocious language you have ever heard & are expected to go on taking it, day after day. They have mandatory 30 minute lunches & mandatory over time. On May 23, 2012, I took a phone call, got cussed out, called every name in the book & hung up on by a woman (I refuse to call her a lady). When the call was over, I threw down my headset, screamed at the top of my lungs, which was witnessed by a Supervisor. She came over to me & kept asking me if I was okay. I kept saying, over & over again, "I don't know". I was shaking incontrollably. She told me to take a break. So I did. When I came back in about 30 minutes later I was still shaking so I went & found another Supervisor & told her I was going home. I was crying & very upset. I never walked back into that building. I subsequently went to see my family doctor, who advised me to see a physoctherapist, which I did. He advised me to see a phsychiatrist, which I did. On August 3, 2012, Human Resources called me, told me I had the "opportunity" to either quit or resign, because my insurance, vacation days, sick days, was up. I resigned.
I am 62 years old now. I was 60 at the time. I have been trying to look for a job for 2 1/2 years now but no one seems to want to hire me. I am seeing a family doctor that prescribes anti-depressants & anti-anxiety meds for me, but they don't help that much. I had a "major depressive episode", or that's what they tell me.
I can no longer work. I receive $1,376 per month through what they call a "widow's pension". My husband died in 2009 from complications due to cancer.
I feel that Suddenlink owes me a "whole lot of something" for all the agony, pressure & non-caring they showed.
