Six vintage (1990s) valuable Magic cards were listed - 2 individually and 4 in a group on eBay. The two individually sold cards were bought, paid for, delivered and happily received. The four ($440 plus $60 ebay fee) were also packaged carefully, sent with $450.00 US Postal insurance and delivered to a scam artist in Amarillo, TX. This was my first time selling on eBay and what a surprise! The items were received but the "buyer" claimed I had sent four valueless cards from 2011, a time long past the time I bought or used these cards. He immediately filed a complaint. Ebay almost immediately ruled in his favor. He gave me my first negative feedback. PayPal froze my account. And he "returned" his cards (the four cheapies) while keeping the expensive cards. Called the customer service at ebay and spoke to someone who didn't speak English very well. Later I read details on the "buyer's" 99.3% ranking and found three or four others who were scammed the same way. From reading Google reports I see multiple similar complaints about eBay-PayPal but see no recourse for fair treatment and for getting my money/cards back. Instead, it seems like a free way to steal without consequences. Mail fraud? That's my next step. To file a complaint with the Postmaster General. Sigh.
