Placed an online order and used Pay-Pal. Received an email with order # and
status says"processing". Sent 5 emails for status update and received no response at all. There is no phone contact or address on this website. Judging from these other posts RIO FASHION SHOES IS A TOTAL SCAM!! You would think with all of the claims with pay-Pal that they would red flag this vendor before sending money!!

  • Yep, cheap plastic coin pouch with a cartoon figure on it. Paypal provided me with an address in China to return it before they will refund my money. They also require proof of me shipping it back by way of online tracking from the shipper. I sure hope the post office offers this. I have to pay for this. Good luck getting our money back from Paypal.

  • I just threw mine in garbage....paypal refunded my money for both pair of shoes. Go back to paypal log in and click on ur order and make a report. They will refund you. After you do that call them and tell them you want a refund. They were real great about giving me mine back.

  • Paypal required me to mail the crap back to China with proof of shipping online for a cost of $11.75 at the USPS. I sent the registered mail tracking # to Paypal this morning. I was emailed from Paypal that only after receipt of the returned item to the seller would I receive my refund. Total I'm out for so far - $66.95. Paypal did not require you to ship the junk back?

  • No they didn't. I told them the wwhole story and about this site as well. The key chain I received said gift on the package. I filed a thing on paypal saying item I received was not item I ordered. I disputed it. Only took 10 days to get my money back.

  • Same thing happened to us. Decided to call Paypal instead of returning item and paying more money. Explained situation and they are refunding money. Person there said that if they receive enough complaints they won't do business with them anymore.

  • I would like to know how much is enough too... just filed my claim with PayPal today and I hope they don't give me the run-around. Looks like they should be aware of this scammer and should have stopped doing business already! Every claim is the same: either no product or a cheap coin purse in lieu of shoes. I'm just so mad I didn't research before placing an order with a shoe company that I've never heard of. Especially since the shoes I found were at least $25 cheaper than any other site [of sites I know and TRUST].

  • All I can say is, WOW. I stumbled up on riofashionshoes b/c I found a pair of Birkenstocks I've been wanting for over a year....and they had them for $48, instead of the $120 that's everywhere else. The site looks legit, very professional, no red flags. I also noticed that not every size is available in every shoe.......which continued my impression that it was a legit site.

.....Until I went to check out. I registered, set up my shipping info, was SUPER excited. But then I noticed I could ONLY play with PayPal. First off, I don't know why they would do this. Paypal is really good about refunding money, and taking action (usually, anyway). So why then would a scammer use them? But the other weird thing, is that I couldn't pay with a credit card.

RED FLAG. Can't pay with a credit card? Instantly I thought, well....they only have to have an email address to have access to PayPal, they don't need anything else. If they want to offer the credit card option, they have to actually have a bank account, etc. Which lead me to think something was off. Clearly, they are hiding from something.

Enter Google, and finding you guys. And now, my order with these fishy folk is NO MORE. I didn't place the order, and won't.

I was SO CLOSE. Thank you all for posting this. I can totally understand people falling for this scam....as they seem completely genuine. But hopefully this post will keep growing and slow that way down!

  • I got a sponge in the mail ! I am so glad to hear that I am not the only one. I cant believe paypal is letting people send money to these people. I was in complete disbelief when I pulled hte package out of my mailbox. I had previously emailed them 4 times with no reply so I opened a paypal dispute. Thats when I got the tracking # - I still held out hope that I would get the shoes ( a gift for my Mom) I cant believe they even had the audacity to put what was actually in the envelope on teh customs form ! I can take pictures and send them to paypal to prove my case.
