As I recall,my McAfee program was malfunctioning for some reason,and a very legit looking Windows Defender ad came up soon after,or I came across it,and offered lifetime protection for this price.I really should have contacted McAfee but did'nt.When the bill came due,the company name was not familiar,and I was more than a bit suspect when the place of origin was outside the U.S.,and Russia besides.Nothing to do with Microsoft, according to my c/c company.And I must make contact with said company before they can do anything.
