I had another program (Registry Reviver) on my computer that I wanted to uninstall,(it was not working properly) but couldn't. I Googled instructions to delete Registry Reviver, and got what turned out to be a hidden advertisement for PCCleaner Pro. I paid the $29 by credit card after their "scan" showed over a thousand errors, but did not correct any after it had confirmed that it had. (the number of error messages kept doubling) I contacted them by submitting a "ticket", and was told to phone their help line. The operators on the help line put high pressure on me to pay $219 for a "remote Michrosoft technician"to fix the errors, which they claimed would crash my computer imminently. They showed me a phony list of these "errors", which they said my own security program could not remedy. When I said I'd like the number to phone their technician service directly, they refused to give it to me. When I said I'd think about it and get back to them, they phoned me and continued to put pressure on me to act IMMEDIATELY.(including giving my credit card info over the phone)I told them never to call me again.
I had a consultant tech come to my home, and he confirmed that the PCCleanerPro is a scam. He was able to remove the icon and render it inactive, but couldn't find exactly where they had hidden their program in my hardware.

  • drp001, please also file a complaint with the government's Internet Crime Complaint Center. It is infuriating that this company continues to get away with this scam. You can file at https://complaint.ic3.gov.
Please mention to them the number of complaints here and give them the scambook url.
