I had applied for a personal loan online. I received an email and phone call from Atherton Equity. I looked them up on the BBB site and found nothing against them. They told me I had been approved for $5000. The first thing I had to do was send them $800 to cover the first couple payments and they would send me the money. I did that then got a phone call that I needed to send more. Being that I was desperate I sent them what they asked for still under the impression that I would receive the funds they had promised. I was devastated. If I did not need the money in the first place I would have never applied for the personal loan. HUGE lesson learned. From now on I will just go to family in a time of need. I am still trying to recover from all of this. They also told me that it would take 30 days for me to get a refund of my money since I told them I was not sending them anything else and wanted to back out of getting this so called loan from them. Needless to say I have yet to receive a single penny from this company. I contacted the Attorney Generals office in my state and was basically told there was nothing they could do. Now when you check the BBB reports are everywhere about this company doing this same thing to others. I still have all of the documentation on this company if it is needed.
