Similar to other complaints I've read on Scambook for VSupport. A total scam. When I started to install MS Office on our new HP laptop an error popped up - couldn't install - call this number. One assumed it was from MicroSoft since the install instructions were from the Microsoft Box. 1. On your PC, go to office.com/setup 2. Enter the 25-character Product Key 3. Sign in with or create your Microsoft account using an email address. The number went to VSupport (unknown to me and apparently others) who told you the install couldn't proceed because there were multiple problems on the laptop including a major set of Trojan viruses on both the PC and on my network but one of the software engineers would help resolve these issues. After asking multiple questions not related to fixing the problem they installed their software to take over the laptop to "fix the problem". Shortly after they installed their "diagnostics" I was told that they could resolve the problems, install the Office product and provide 3-years of service for the price of price of $449.95. I gave them my credit card info but as they continued working on my PC I got the feeling this wasn't right so I contacted the MS Helpline as VSupport continued "working" on my machine. MS Helpdesk said this was a scam, opened up a service ticket, told me to contact my credit card provider and stop the transaction, then turn off the PC. MS Helpdesk called me back and proceeded to do diagnostics remotely on my laptop and cleaned up any bad things and checked the Office install. Started getting calls and emails from VSupport that I've ignored. I was lucky that VSupport hadn't processed my credit card information, and I got ahold of MS in time, but I did cancel out the card and had it reissued with a new number. I also had a tech person from my work look over the machine the following week to be sure VSupport hasn't "installed" any additional "Ghostware" on the laptop. This reoccuring issue with other new laptops, might point to a problem with new HP laptops being delivered with VSupport "ghostware" ready hiding on the new machines or they have the ability to monitor the office.com/setup link - just a thought. A total scam outfit.
