I purchased two vouchers Oct. 30th 2011 (voucher was valid until Oct. 2014). They were worth $389 each ($778 total). The vouchers were each good for a 4 night stay at a resort in Mexico. - http://www.dealathons.com/cad/?cid=37&id=1116

At the beginning of October 2013 we attempted to book a spot at the hotel. I had emailed back and forth with the resort and confirmed dates. When I mentioned I would be paying via Dealathons voucher the lady instructed me that they would not be able to honor the vouchers as they had not been paid by Dealathons. Here is their response quoted

"Hello. Unfortunately due to a breech in contract we can not accept vouchers from Dealathon. I would suggest contacting them for a refund. Please let us know if you have any comments, questions or concerns."


Because of the response above I sent the first email to dealathons to get this resolved on October 10th 2013.

Received first email response on Oct. 18th stating that they would look into the issue and get back to me.

Oct. 23rd I emailed back looking for an update as I hadn't heard back. They replied back same day stating they were still "actively attempting to resolve this issue" and apologized for the delay. I received a follow-up email later that day offering $1000 in credit to my dealathons account to compensate for the cost of the vouchers and the inconvenience.

Oct. 25th - I initially missed the second email they sent so didn't respond back until 2 days later. I requested a refund instead of the credit as I couldn't see myself spending $1000 any time soon on their site (especially since they no longer offer vacation vouchers)

Nov. 1st - No response yet so replied back looking for an update.

Nov. 4th - Dealathons replied with the following "Our sincere apologies. Unfortunately we cannot reverse the charges back onto your account after 60 days. We can offer a credit of $1000.00 to your Dealathons Account to compensate for the cost of your vouchers and the inconvenience. Please respond to confirm your acceptance of this credit. "

Nov 4th - Replied back that I do NOT accept the credit and would like a refund processed via cheque/money order/however.

Nov. 5th - Received the following reply from Dealathons

"Our sincere apologies for any inconvenience. We cannot reverse the charges back onto the credit card after 60 days from the date of purchase. We apologies for any inconvenience. Thank you for your time and patience."


Nov. 5th - I replied back yet again stating I would like a refund instead of the offered $1000 credit.

Nov. 5th - Dealathons replies with the following
"We have forwarded your file over to management for review as they would have the authority to authorize your request. Please allow 2-3 business days for a follow up.

Kind Regards, "


Nov 13th - No response yet so I emailed looking for an update.

Nov. 19th - No response yet so I emailed back yet again looking for an update.

Jan 15th - Got busy with the holidays so didn't have a chance to chase this down again. Once again no response from dealathons since my case was forwarded to management. I can now no longer get a response back from basic support email. Sent yet another request for a status update.

Jan 24th - Sent another status update email. No response.


I have also called in twice. First time spoke with a CSR who forwarded me to her managers phone which of course went to voicemail. Left a voicemail and never heard back.

Second time I called in I sat on hold for 15-20 minutes before being bumped to voicemail automatically. Left another message and of course still have not heard back.




All I am looking for is a refund for vouchers I was unable to use due to dealathons error.

The complete lack of response from Dealathons has been appalling. I was extremely professional with all emails. There was never any threats or nasty language. To me it looks like they are just trying to pocket my money by ignoring me.


Thought I would try leaving a complaint here to see if it can get me a response and prevent me from proceeding with filing small claims to recover my money. If I don't get a response in the next week I will be proceeding down that road since this company has left me no other choice.
