I received a text this morning for a briefing and interview via yahoo messenger. I was told it was for Nova Medical Centers (which I did in fact apply to a Nova, but it is here locally in Atlanta). I was already cautious, because I have never had an interview like this before. I was texted by an Angela Thomas (phone number 903-364-7214), and spoke only with her via yahoo messenger. She promised $23 per hour for training, and $35.75 per hour after. I informed her many times that I was skeptical and cautious, and she continued to state how amazing the company is, and how impressed she was with my resume, and prompt answers. She informed me that a check would be sent to my home, for all programs I would need, about 12 listed, which included Photoshop and Illustrator. I have worked in medical reception for 6 years, and have never needed these programs before, so that struck me as being odd. Not to mention those programs will run you any where from $300 to $500, so again, the flags were raised. I was also told I would be sent a computer, since I only own Macs. I did provide her with my address, and she had my number from the text contact earlier. We ended the IM conversation stating she would need me to contact her on IM at 8am tomorrow morning. I have since looked into it further, finding scam book, and a situation almost identical to mine, only I am thankful it only wasted an hour and a half of my time, and no money. I have since texted and messaged her, stating I will no longer need her services and declined any "opportunity" she has offered me today. If a check in fact is sent to my home, I will send it back immediately. The other thing that I noticed here on scam book, is that the website I was given was NOT n-o-v-a. com, but novamedicalcenters. com. The site I was given, is a legitimate site, with Facebook and Pinterest as well. Not sure if these people are using Nova Medical Centers to scam, and are not affiliated, or if it's all a complete scam. I hope this helps someone out in the earlier stages, and not after money is spent and lost. I also believe I applied to THIS "Nova" from Craigslist, however I didn't ask how they received my resume. They did ask how long I have been looking for a job. But anyway, LESSON LEARNED! (I had to put a dollar amount, but no money was actually lost, thankfully.)
