This ScamMail notice looks remarkably official. Apparently similar to the "Labor Compliance Office" complaints previously reported, this one uses an address of 170 N 400 East Suite D, St. George, UT 84770, telephone 888-755-3386.
The letter claims it comes from the "Business Publishing Department" and contains several "notices" from Utah and Federal sources detailing the requirement for employers to post information in their business places informing employees of their rights. It refers to US Code penalties for failure to comply - up to $17000, all of this in very fine or shaded print.
It then posts, in much larger type, a "fee" of $285, "Due Now". Further reading reveals that the "fee" is for the purchase of a "Compliance Poster" that would satisfy the law.
This scam needs to be widely published and the originators need to be prosecuted for attempted mail fraud.
