Trying to selling an old sofa on craigslist and had interest from someone who said their boss would like to buy it, this email came from someone named "Georgie". The boss, "David Moore", then got in touch and said he'd send a cashiers check with additional money to cover moving costs.

The email communications back and forth were a little strange, already raising suspicion, and then the check arrived and was for $1680; the sofa was on for $250...He sent details of the mover to whom a money gram should be sent and also the address of where it should be sent. He asked me to deposit the check then withdraw cash for the money gram. he was not available to talk (he was apparently in the Gulf) but was emailing and texting.

I told him we'd send the check back, but I plan on taking it to the bank to see if they can identify who ordered the check and if it's legit, and perhaps taking it to the police along with the other information I have.
