I, a united states navy sailor, called for a reservation for two rooms at Comfort Inn in Waukegan, IL for 3 nights for when my family came to Great Lakes, IL for my brother's navy boot camp graduation. Because I can't help my military schedule, I couldn't call before the 24 hour cancellation period the hotel's policy held. I called one hour late to cancel and the manager told me that if they rented out the rooms, I wouldn't be charged. I called the day I was supposed to check in and was told by the manager himself that I would not be charged and to not worry about it. I didn't think to cancel my credit card just in case, I actually trusted the manager I wouldn't be charged. I looked at my bank account a week later and realized that I had in fact been charged a few days after the manager told me I wouldn't be charged. He didn't call me back to let me know I was being charged after all, nor did he ever send me prof of cancellation. On my bank statement, it said that I was being charged as a no show but I did in fact called to cancel. I'm thinking the manager never cancelled my reservation and because of how rude he was with me and also cutting off my sentences to "defend" himself each time I talked to him, I'm starting to think he purposely screwed me over. It's too late to cancel my credit card because the transaction went through, but is there anyway I can dispute this charge or get my money back? Because of how rude this manager was and how unhelpful he was, I know he wouldn't let me contact his supervisor and I cannot find any means of contact online. Please help?
