Back in March, I ordered new cable and internet service through Time Warner. They were running a promotion where I could get a free wireless router through Techzilla. I would need to pay $69.95 plus $14.95 for shipping, and but could get a rebate from Techzilla for the $69.95. Time Warner told me that it was a router that was "specialized" for their network, and the one they recommend.

So we have the router. It actually really sucks, and I wish I had just bought one on my own. My first mistake.

I submitted the rebate form immediately. The form provided stated that it would take 10-16 weeks to process the rebate. So that would put the return of my rebate at the end of July. It's August 21st and I've yet to receive it.

I called Techzilla customer service this morning to check on the rebate status, and was told by their rep that they're backlogged and it will be up to another 7 weeks before I get the rebate. OR I can get a $300 "dining dollars" promotion immediately. When I told them that this was not acceptable, and that I wanted to speak to a supervisor, the rep told me that all supervisors were currently in a meeting and I would need to call back. She also told me that there's language on the rebate form saying they could change the window allotted for checks at any time. Reading the form, it says that "Techzilla reserves the right to change the Terms and Conditions or end the offer at any time without notice."

This whole thing reeks of a total scam to me. At this point, I highly doubt I will ever see that $69.95. But I was wondering if you guys think there's any recourse I can take or a way to escalate this? Obviously I'm angry that I got scammed, but I'm more outraged that they are doing this to many people and no one is calling out the illegality - and also, that Time Warner is complicit and promoting this great "deal" that's actually robbing their customers' of money.
