I purchased a vehicle from a man named John Burke on June 5, 2013. He and I had an agreement that I had 30 days to bring the car back if there were any problems. The other night, my car would not crank; therefor, I proceeded to call him. He answered his phone to inform me that he was no longer employed with this car lot. I went up there yesterday to speak with the owner of the car lot. He basically told me that since I did not want to purchase the "warranty" they offer, I was on my own. At the time of my purchase I was never informed nor offered such a warranty. The bill of sale was not printed on letter head and one of the documents ( that I supposedly signed) did not have my signature. The owner of the lot told me to take my 2002 Volkswagon Beetle to a mechanic and then if it was a "major problem" as he stated, I could then purchase his warranty for $300 OR $400, he never gave me a direct answer.This is on top of tow truck fees and whatever Volkswagon is going to charge me. I purchased this vehicle with insurance money that I received from totaling out my vehicle. I deliver pizzas for a living and am stuck between a rock and a hard spot. I need to know the steps I need to take in order to rectify this matter. These people are pretty much liars and I do not think I should pay the consequences because they fired the individual who sold me the car.
