Early in 3rd week of May this year, I called AT&T to have my DSL and phone transferred to my new address. I was told my phone would be on wednesday or thursday, the 18th or 19th, and the internet would be on tuesday, the day after memorial day. The phone service wasn't on until friday the 20th. On tuesday the 24th I called AT&T to find out what was up with the dsl? They said I never asked to have my DSL transferred with my phone, but would have someone call and have it transferred by friday the 27th. Knowing that the people that call themselves customer reps quit at 5pm, I called around 4 to ask why no one had called to reschedule my dsl transfer, I was again told that I never asked to have my DSL transferred. Again, I ordered it transferred. Since I do most of my business online, this was very frustrating, of course. Finally, on friday may 27th when I get home from work, there is a recorded message on my answering machine saying that finally my DSL had been transferred. It would not work. Spent half the evening on the phone with their so called tech support. Finally they decided it must be my computer. I assured them that it WAS NOT, but took my computer to a friends house and was easily able to access the interenet anyways. Also this is the same computer that had NO PROBLEMS before we FINALLY got service transferrred. SOOO the next night I spent another long night with tech support who also could not get the DSL on. This guy"Kyle" said that if I signed up for their fee based remote service that my internet would "be on in an hour". I am annoyed and skepical that I would have to pay 15$ more a month for a year just to get the service on. I asked this idiot, how my computer could be remotely accessed if I CANNOT get online? He said it could be done thru the modem and email or something. He also said that if I cancelled early all I would pay for is the services rendered. Reluctantly and desperately, I agreed. So I was transferred to, I believe India? This fee based service did all the same things that the free tech supposedly service did with the same results. Only now I need a modem? this will cost 62$ + shipping. So, like an idiot I order the modem. Then at 11am when the tech support will finally answer their phone on sunday May 29th, I call to cancel this service and complain that I was sold a bill of lies and since I got nothing I expected to pay "nothing". This woman, "Gloria" informed me that I would now be defrauded out of 120$ for an early cancellation fee!!! I told her I would begin filing a complaint with the FCC. She agreed to file a complaint with at&t complaint dept. Like that would be done as promised. So early monday morning, may 30th, I call and tell AT&T to just cancel my services. I am so done with them. Comcast came out at MY convenience and with NO trouble at all had me online.
Now, I have a $382.22 bill from AT&T for all the grief I endured trying to simply(you would think) just have my service transferred to my new house. Since I cancelled AT&T and usually get my bills electronically, I am now being denied access to the details of this fraud bill.
I work during the hours that ATT provides so called customer service. This ordeal burned thru more of my cell phone minutes than I have EVER used in a month! my phone died a couple of times jumping thru all these ridiculous hoops to NO avail. My breaks usually were over before I could get a real person on the phone.
Today June 29th I was able to get a real person who tried to jerk me around some more before agreeing to send me a paper copy of a detailed bill. Of course, I will not hold my breathe. The modem was returned unopened, and I can't wait to be done with this crime syndicate,
A few years ago, I was the victim of at&t's famous "cram scam". I was told by att rep at that time, that if I didn't like being charged for something I didn't order on my bill then I should complain to FCC b/c they didn't really care and considered this to be my own personal problem. I know. I should have my head examined for trusting these criminals again

  • If I were you, I would take a copy of this post with my bill and file a claim against them in "small claims court". Check with your county clerk or justice of the peace and inquire about filing. It is free and you will probably get your money back before a judgement is rendered. Hope this helps. Good luck.
