Our new home came with a built-in Kitchenaid Refrigerator - a unit that retails for over $6000 dollars. The home was built in 2009. The ice maker began malfunctioning in December of last year and we had the KtichenAid authorized service group com out to the house to repair the unit. The unit was leading water at the bottom of the freezer side and would not dispense ice. After spending over $650 in repair work on the unit I was informed that I would need to buy a new door for $600+ to fix the problem. When I researched the problem I discovered that this is a well known issue with KitchenAid refrigerators and one that they apparently have since corrected. KitchenAid has refused to stand by their product.
