SSMC Xpress International Montego Bay will overcharge you and then sell your items with no compensation - BEWARE!
I ordered items from three different companies online as listed below, totaling $1012.96:

SAMSUNG GALAXY 8.9 LTE
TABLET - $253.99
Tracking #: 9410810200828602573932

OLD NAVY
BATHSUIT - $49.49
Package #: 148762606
Ship Carrier: FEDX
Ship Type: EXPRESS SAVER
Tracking #: 545546374520

REST OF ORDER - $326.17
Package #: 00004200100087631770
Ship Carrier: FEDX
Ship Type: EXPRESS
Tracking #: 544985093210

BED BATH STORE
UPS GROUND 1Z138221YW78327275
TOTAL $383.31

When the items were received by the SSMC Montego Bay branch, we were contacted via phone and informed of the total of the orders:
The bathing suit from Old Navy is $1,200
The rest of the order from Old Navy is $18,000+
The Bed Bath Store Order is $18,000+
and we were previously told by Christina that to clear electronics (the tablet - this was before it arrived at their Florida branch) was $6,000+

After the tablet arrived at the Montego Bay branch, we were contacted and quoted an amount of $23,000+ for the tablet alone.
Then the next day, Christina left a message on our voicemail that there is another package for $6,000+ and that we should collect the items totalling $70,000+ as soon as we receive the message.

There was a total of four shipments and SSMC wants $70,000+ to collect the items including late charge fees for 30 days. If the items are not collected by the 30th day (Saturday, January 26, 2013), SSMC will sell the items and do not compensate me for the $1,012.96 I spent on purchasing the items.

My husband just got off the phone with Christina.
He explained to her that he did not expect to pay $70,000+ and late charges of $100 per item per day for the items, and therefore he is having a hard time coming up with all that money to collect the items. He clearly stated that he wants to pay for the Samsung Galaxy Tablet in order to sell it, to make up to clear the rest of the items.
Christina showed no empathy whatsoever and continued to reiterate the company’s newest policy (that we did not sign and agree to);
‘we should pay for the items as they arrive and the tablet is the last one that arrives; so that is what we are receiving last.’

SSMC is withholding that a number of packages were shipped and they received several orders, however the online companies clearly state the amount of packages that were shipped (totalling four shipments) and SSMC confirmed this with the initial calls. Now, they are calling repeatedly, stating that they received more than four shipments and we have three invoices with the tracking numbers that states the weight and number of shipments (four - Old Navy shipping a bathing suit separate from the rest of items ordered).

  • After exposing SSMC's business practices and policies, my husband visited their location and pleaded with them for an alternate resolution.

A proposal was ultimately introduced by offering a payment plan: to pay $7,000 and receive the Samsung Galaxy Tablet and then pay $35,000 thereafter, and then the final installment of $28,000 at a later date.

I have requested a copy of their shipping cost price sheet and agreement via email and am awaiting response.
This request was emailed to their general mailbox and the private email for Christina on January 10, 2013.
