I just received a call from "Ron Williams" Sr. Manager Cancellation Department of the Online Yellow Pages company. Ron told me that I had a pending invoice for $599 for a yellow pages listing that was set up two years ago-- year 1 was FREE and the 2nd year had been at 1/2 price. And that the next year would be for $1200. I explained that our business had been closed for 10 years, following the death of the owner and that there was no way we had set up a listing on the YP. He assured me that he would personally clear it up BUT I would have to be transferred to the "Quality Control" group to authorize the cancellation and THEN, AGREE TO THE $599 charges that were currently due. I would be given some number and then "Ron" would call me me back and PERSONALLY handle crediting our account. I shouldn't tell his QA person all this--just tell them I was authorized to cancel the ad that I was agreeing to the current charges. SOmething about their commission structure. I agreed to talk to his QA group and was transferred to "Will." While I questioned Will about his company and WHERE I could find our advertisement--supposedly www.onlineLocalyp.com--I tried to pull it up and NO WEBSITE was found. He even tried to pull it up and then told me there must be something wrong with the website today. I also was searching for SCAMS for "ONLINE LOCAL YP" and found MANY. I finally told Will to sue me and hung up. "Ron" called back and asked for the "number" and I told him I was reading about his scam and asked how could he live with himself. Thanks for YOUR posting which confirmed my suspicions.
