I purchased a dishwasher and paid $10.00 haul away fee and $139.99 "standard" installation. The subcontractor proceeded to tell me that he could not install the DW because the way the previous one was connected "wasn't up to code". On top of that, after he turned of the shutoff valve for the hot water it began leaking.
I said to just leave the DW in the garage and he told me that it would cost me $65.00 (it was supposed to be FREE delivery). I felt pressured and railroaded to accept the over-inflated service fee of $310 to bring everything "up to code" for installation. The tech charged $100 just to replace the shutoff valve.
I complained to the Sears associate who said he was going to talk to the manager to try to get some money off of the refrigerator which I also bought from him and will be delivered on 9/12/12. He never contacted me when he said he would.
Update: 09/10/2012
The store manager contacted me today to inform me that I was given a small, partial refund.
