Extra/Models wanted, that's the advertisement. This is in Australia(at the moment). They promise work but never deliver. I know of people who have signed 9 months ago and still no work. They get you to sign up and pay money to an other web site( Castings and Auditions), which i found out is there own site. $143AUD + web hosting, you might say not that much but thats how they get you. They have hundreds of people on there site(www.showcasemanagemnet.com.au), now thats i lot of money. They told me that there is work coming up as an Extra. Someone rung the other day to sign me up again. I asked them if there was any extra work coming up and she said NO, there is no movies in SA only commercials tht they do. Straight away i knew something was not right. The TV shows and Movies they say they have worked on, my friend has worked on, he has never heard of them. Today i was speaking to the so called owner and he told me that they only started up 5 months ago. The lady on the phone 2 mins before i spoke to the owner she said she had worked for 2yrs for them. I got an email for someone who signed up many months before who said Showcase was called BLACKBOX Managemnet 8 months ago but went belly up, but now SHOWCASE MANAGEMNET. On there web site they say have been operating for 30yrs. When i questioned this he said 'OH no, only a Few months.
I have rung other casting agents and they all said there never charge money only for photos been taken.
Some people out there just scam us for there own good. One day they will get theirs back big time...

  • Hi! I just got a call from Showcase Management. The person say that I'd be in a contract with them and I have to work as extras in ads. Then he sent me his terms and conditions and an application form, asking me to fill that up and send him. But at first I thought to check the reviews online and got one word from all that they are "fake". I am not sending them any pictures or form. I just thought to earn some extra money but not like this.

  • Good for you. I did sign myself up and my 3 kids, 4 weeks now. I believe i got scammed. I will let everyone know IF i get work. But i don't think i will. To many others have done the same, some for 6months and more and still no work. I have spoken to the Fraud Squad(Police) in Australia about them. They are looking into it.
    IF ANYONE has payed money to them contact there bank and cancel their payment, you have up to 3 months to do this for any payments make to anyone. In Australia i know this not sure anywhere else but you can only try.

  • Its been 7 months since I moved here in melbourne. All I have learnt is if there is something that is "too good to be true" have a survey of it. I am from IT background but looking for some customer service job. This is what I can get when I dnt have local experience. Are you looking for career in films?

  • No, i am in the building industry. I live in Adelaide, moved from Melb. But hard to find work here so i am looking @ the transport industry, seems to be more jobs around.
    I seen the Extra job also and thought would be good for more money, but u know the rest.

  • I know... sometimes we need to learn lessons from life. Dnt stress about it too much. M sure if you have complained, u ll get justice. Hope to hear from you soon when you get your case solved.

  • I am copy and pasting my reply made in a Whirlpool Forum regarding Showcase Management trading as a possibly scamming company:

    I am absolutely certain the company trading as 'Showcase Management' is a SCAM. I had the exact same experience as most of you: phone calls straight after applying, being pushed to pay the upfront $143 etc. As I did sign up, I had access to the finer terms and conditions, such as these details:

    Showcase Management is apparently registered to one Hohepa Rudolph of 2905/4 The Esplande, Surfers Paradise, Queensland. When you Google Map this address, it shows an unfinished apartment block (though this could just be a miscalculation on Google Map's part).

    There are still advertisements on Seek saying that Showcase Management are 'urgently' seeking actors, extras etc. However, no communication for x amount of weeks doesn't seem like 'urgent' to me.

    I would not sign up with Showcase Management. They claim to have been in the business for 30 years but there is little to no evidence or indication of this at all!

    Also, the replies made by Sheri27 are ridiculously suspicious. Showcase, I'm calling your bluff. Not to mention your lack of correct spelling and grammar (which was evident on the agreement contract as well).

    Stay safe everyone. Don't be fooled and do thorough research before submitting personal or financial details online. I will whole-heartedly be taking this matter further to prove whether or not Showcase Management are a scam and have already submitted my suspicions to the appropriate authorities.

  • A resolution has been sought through this website to resolve the complaint lodged by "Simon". As yet no contact has been made by by Simon. Showcase Management takes all complaints very seriously and are concerned with "Simons" claims which we strongly deem to be incorrect. We have not received any complaint directly, and are disappointed that we are unable to address this complaint directly.
