I recently requested to upgrade my Verizon Wireless service to include unlimited calls and texts for a fixed monthly rate of approximately $89.00 per month. When I received my first bill the total amount due was $290.79. After numerous calls and emails I was unable to get the matter resolved. Verizon is claiming that the new plan was to become effective on July 26, 2012 and all of the texts send and received had been charged fifteen cents each resulting in the messaging fees in the amount of $168.80. I was distinctly told by the online representative that the plan was effective immediately. I have exhausted all available avenues in an attempt to get the matter corrected and have been told that the entire bill in the amount of $290.79 was due and payable and I was obligated to fulfill the two year contract that was part of the new plan. I have been deceived by Verizon. This is a blatant deceptive act on the part of Verizon. All I want is for Verizon to credit my account in the amount of $168.80 and to honor the contract that was effective immediately upon activation of the new cell phone. Had I not been assured of the effective date of the plan I would not have either sent or received text messages nor would I have allowed other persons in the household to do so. The practices engaged by agents of Verizon have been both deceptive and misrepresented. Verizon needs to live up to their obligations and honor the promised of their designated representative.
