My oven wasn't heating so I called Dave's Appliance in Nampa, Idaho and an individual by the name of Dave came out and said I needed a new control panel and probe. His estimate was $550 - $600. I was appauled at this as I could practically buy a new stove for that but I agreed to the repair as Dave said the parts were very expensive. He asked for a $228 deposit and I gave this amount to him in cash. He left my house around 7:00 pm and after thinking things over I decided to look for these parts on the internet and found that I could purchase them considerably cheaper than what Dave was charging. I felt I was being grossly overcharged. I called Dave the first thing the next day at which time he told me the cost was going to be $605, more than the bid. I asked him not to order any parts as I decided this was more than I could afford and I wanted to cancel the repair. I asked for my refund of back $160, which is the $228 mimus the $68 trip charge. I have been given the runaround by several peope and Dave will not return my calls. They are now telling me all I am going to get back is $32 as the rest of the money is for ordering of the part plus a restocking fee. That seems like a lot of money for such a thing. I asked to see the paperwork on this and was not given an opportunity to do so. I think it is my right to see what I am being charged for. I am an elderly person who feels taken advantage of. I explicitly asked Dave not to order any parts the very next morning and he is saying that I said to go ahead. This is not true and is smacks of a scam to me.
