our company was with teleus. We had been with telstra before so the telemarketers from telstra offered us a deal to change back. This was on 29 may 2012. When the letter of cooling off came my wife telephoned them to say she was not going ahead. Okay they said and that was that.
However , it appears that when you initially agree to re join telstra, they change over your line immediately. So when my wife cancelled she inadvertently cancelled the line. But they did not inform her of this. Surely they should have said that they had changed the line already and that the business would now have no phone connected ? But they did not and we were without a line for 10 days, no calls.no appointments and no eftpos facilities. Even worse .
,if you called the number it came back disconnected, as if the company had gone out of business. Due to that fact who knows how many customers have gone elsewhere? We could do no business for 10 days on eftpos and no future calls.
We estimated this at a meagre $200 per day.plus a small amount for some loss of business over the following 10 days.
We were informed by about 6 different telstra consultants,when we were trying to resolve this, that we were entitled to compensation. Finally, today we get a call saying that we cancelled the line and it was just our word against theirs and that we would get nowhere by continuing. We were offered the outstanding balance as at today of $250 as a gesture, not as compensation and if we do not take it, will get nothing .
Is this right/ Is this fair? Are other consumers aware of these facts ?
