My cousin contacted me and gave me a number, stating this company was calling her trying to get ahold of me, and something about I had 24-48 hours to respond or a restraining order would be put out on me. I called the number, and the woman said I was being taken to court by Schwann's for a debt from 2005 for $570. I informed the woman I had no debt to Schwanns, as I never ordered anything from them beyond the occassional box of cookies or hot pockets. I told her I wanted to see something in writing, in the mail first. She said she could send the paperwork but it wouldn't guarantee slowing the legal motion to get a restraining order against me--- unless I wanted to settle immediately, in which Schwann's would settle for $270. I asked where checks are sent and she said they only take credit or debit card payments. I asked her for the companys business license number so I could make sure this wasn't a scam, and she said she did not have it and would have to 'get it from corporate'. I told her unless I got something in the mail, on paper, I would not address this further.
