My small company has been getting multiple invoices for $ 495.00 and threatening phone calls from "Jason" at Online America. He insists that we signed up for an "internet mini - portal web site" via a telephone conversation several months prior. This all started about 4 weeks ago from this posting. My company (as I'm sure of any other business) would not do business with just a verbal agreement with a person or business entity over the phone. Instead, we would have requested a written contract, read and then signed the terms if we wanted their service. This is not the case with Online America, they try to harass you into believing that you or someone in your compnay gave the verbal approval for the service. This company, Online America, and their service, is a scam. Beware of them. One way to help others (according to Verizon) to avoid these problems is to make sure your business phone numbers are on the "Do Not Call List."

  • Hi, I have been getting the same threatening calls from Jason. This is the most absurd way of doing business by a phone call and then calling the small business a year later with a $495 past due invoice.

Can I ask what you are doing to get rid of the calls? I just want Online America and Jason to leave me alone. He told me that he'll keep calling me up to 3 times a day and also called me stupid, lol. I have never had to deal with a company like this before.

  • Hi noscamforme:

The calls have stopped about 2 to 3 weeks ago. I was told that you can contact the BBB about the threats and the way they are doing business. This is a scam by all my business means as we would never do business with anyone or any company without siging a contract knowing the tems and conditions, etc. You can also contact the Consumer Protection Agency as well your state's Attorney General's Office.

  • Thank you for your help! I'll be getting a hold of the BBB today and I already contacted my states Attorney General about them. I hope they go out of business soon and no one else has to deal with them. Thanks again!

  • I started recieving the same messages, letters, and phone calls. I told them I had to have the contract that was signed in order to move forward at which time they played a recording of myself, however the recording was different than the actual conversation that had taken place. When discussing with the "representative" my concerns she told me that the recording would serve as a contract and would be evidence in court, so she would be sending the account to collections and hung up. I immediately contacted my attorney and told him of this....

He advised me to send a cease and decist letter to the address on the invoice that was sent to me. (Samples of these can be found online). I have not since heard from them, so it appears to have worked :).

  • Thanks for posting Annonymous0765. Any information we can use to stop Online America and other devious organizations always helps. I have heard of them (Online America) trying to use the recorded telephone conversations to collect money. The advice on cease and decist is good and I'm gald it worked for you.
