I responded to an ad on craigslist. I went through the initial application and then they wanted me to verify my credit. I wasn't comfortable having my credit card charged. I'll be waiting to see if I do get charged or get spam.

Dude, you gave them your credit card number? Alert your credit card company immediately! Any potential employer who wants your financial information is a fraud. When you log in to any job site at craigslist, they warn you about that.
The email you got--I just got that same reply to my job app so I googled it and found out they were a fraud. Sent them an email back: "Before I do that, I need the name of your company, the worksite location, and more information about the job. I await your reply." -
