Because I have a contract with Verizon I was actually given no choice but to buy a new phone because after only 2 years the battery went dead and, of course, they no longer make batteries for that phone. But, I ended up buying a phone identical to the previous one for $53.99 THEN they charge me $30.00 for a so-called upgrade. I was not told at that time about the upgrade fee but after receiving my bill and making an inquiry, was told 'that's company policy'. My question is: why should I have to not only buy a new phone BUT pay an upgrade fee on an identical phone with the same telephone number; and does that mean Verizon has the right to MAKE you honor a contract when their product fails???
