Someone called our business on 3/7/2012 saying we had enjoyed the services of yellow pages online for two years, the first year being free. They said it was time to pay for the second year, $599.95. This type of advertising does not work for our business and I never signed up for such a thing. They said that the only way I could cancel was to agree to have a bill sent to me. If I didn't they would bill me for two years and I would be consenting to continue their service. I should have just hung up on them but I'm too trusting of a person. I told them that they could send the bill but I wouldn't pay it and I didn't owe it. They even gave me a cancellation number to refer to. They offered to lower the price if I gave them a credit card number right then. They said they were recording the conversation. When we got the bill, we reported it as mail fraud and reported them to the better business bureau. Neither of which helps as far as I can tell. We don't know what else to do. We even called them up and listened to the recording. It is doctored so much that it makes it sound like I placed an order with them. They called on 6/5/2012 and I hung up on them. Today, 6/7/2012, they called again. I was prepared to record the conversation myself this time. She didn't mind. They want me to pay the bill (due 6/6/2012) with interest and late fees. They said that I placed an order for their services on 3/7/2012 for the upcoming year and need to pay it now. They offered to play me my recording and when I told them I had heard it and it was doctored. She said that it wasn't (of course), but that is not the conversation I had with them. Again, she offered to help me out with the late fees and interest. I didn't let her get any further, but she was probably going to ask for a credit card. Maybe that is their scam. I'm not sure, but I need them to quite calling me for something I don't owe them.
They originally called from 1-941-932-4045 and now they are calling from an unknown number. I have to answer those calls for our business because sometimes the unknown numbers are legitimate calls.
(I put in the dollar amount they want, but I haven't paid it.)
