I am warning ANYBODY who gets pop-ups on their computer supposedly from Microsoft Security asking for $ to take the computer to ignore it. Unfortunately I assumed that I was getting a legit Microsoft antivirus or antispyware program - and the download was a nasty virus.
BMO Mastercard refused to do a chargeback for the $73.73 VideoCaverPro because the deemed that I was the one who authorized the charge to go through. Mastercard demanded that I get an "outside expert" to write a letter claiming that the virus was installed - but every computer tech I spoke to said they cannot and will not do so because it is "impossible" to prove definitively on their end where the virus came from.
I am on the hook for $73.73 now.
