Approximately 2 years ago, i agreed to rent to own a bedroom suite
on memorial weekend to be exact. I had already entered into an agreement for 1200.00 set that had been reduced, but new. the day they delivered the suite the worker looked at the route through the house to my bedroom they refused to deliver anything but the mattresses stating that the furniture wouldn't fit up the stairs due to the headboard..
We did settle on a different set at full price, and when they delivered it the headboard was actually larger and it fit just fine.
At the time of purchase I agreed to buy a benefits plus program due to the fact that I would not be able to complete the purchase before my unemployment benefits would expire, I asked if the program would cover the loss of unemployment benefits, I was told that it would cover me.
Upon the knowledge of the end of my benefits, I called the RAC store and talked to the manager about the impending situation, at which he lead me to think that the benefits were in tact, and all I would need to do is give him a form from the unemployment agency that my benefits were exhausted, and all would be fine. When I found out within two weeks of my last payment, I informed Cory the manager that indeed, the agency did not provide a form as they required, so what would be the next step. Cory then stated that he would call the regional manager Brock, and would get back to me, about ten days later I called Cory after, I received a call at a time when they agreed Cory, and I again inquired about the benefits and was again assured of no problems with the program, and he would call Brock, and I would hear from the regional manager shortly.
Within the time that I was waiting for them to act, and the impossible hurdle I had to overcome a month had lapsed, due only to their actions. I must mention that I had never until this time missed any payments for more than two weeks....
When the regional manager finnally called me, I asked about the benefits, which I had paid on for more than a year at three dollars a week, I was informed that I had neglected to pay on the benefits for more than a month so the benefits had lapsed, and the six months of payments that would have been paid, weren't going to take place, and there were no options. So after a heated discussion I told Brock that I was up for a job at a former employer, and was likely to be hired, at that he offered me two months, with the offer of any additional time if needed due to their neglegence on the part of the store manager, and store employees.
Upon the deletion of the two months, I asked for an additional thirty days and was given three days to enter into another agreement, and he again offered the Benefits Plus program, at which I initially agreed, but due to an emergency I was unable to meet the deadline, and left a message on Brocks voicemail, that I had been called into work and please do not call me at work, which he did, and began to yell at me. Subsequently I have been called at work at least 3 times, and on the final time I was called at work, they then came too my home, in my absence and proceeded to bang on the door for 5 to 10 minutes, scaring my 87 year old blind father and his health worker for minutes...
Of course I was called by the worker, and had to call the rental store to ease my mind, from work!
I fully believe that I have been a victim of Bait and Switch, False Advertising, Breech of Contract, and undo harrassment, which may conflict with Federal Statutes.
Please advise
