After looking over my phone bill through Windstream, I inquired to several charges and was told it was by a third party company, Roman LD, Inc. Windstream could not provide any other details. After calling the company, I was told I had authorized them to bill me $24.99 monthly (they actually bill $34.74 a month) for a long distance service. They played a tape recording from a year before where a man with a strong accent who could barely be understood asked to speak with me and asked if I was the person authorized to approve things on my Windstream account. I remembered talking to this man on the phone. He first said he worked for Windstream and needed to verify my account. The beginning and ending of the call where magically not recorded. Including the end of the call, when I told him I did not need any extra services and I did not want changes to my Windstream account. The customer service rep I spoke with from Roman LD, Inc did not at all seem surprised that I was upset. This company is a scam. They call and try to confuse people by speaking with such terrible accents that you cannot tell who you are actually talking to or what they are actually asking you. Furthermore, they only record the part of the conversation they want to start billing you. After you get the idea that you are not speaking with Windstream and tell them not to call back... that part is omitted from the recording.
