Was forwarded to Omni-Tech by Microsoft to assist me with a question/ problem regarding window's 8. All I needed to know was how to burn a download to a disc without downloading the program to the computer. The tech named Becky or tech 20, stated she had to remote view my computer. Sounded odd since I just needed to know how to burn a disc with windows 8. But since I was directed to this company by Microsoft I figured it was legit. So she did her thing and after about 20 minutes she says that since there is a lot of work involved in this type of support which requires software updates and the unlocking of my computer, I would have to pay $249.99 for further assistance. I questioned her about this so called unlocking of my computer. I told her it was a simple tech support question on how to burn a disc and that unlocking a computer was not neccessary. I had never heard of this anyways. She abruptly ended the live chat. Omni Tech is a total scam and I advise not to use this company for support. Ive also filed complaints with the BBB and Microsoft. I was amazed that a well respected company like Microsoft would associate with extremely sub standard tech support and a shady company to boot.
A side note to the omnibus tech person that will respond to this allegation, when so many people are complaining about the same thing then its obvious that your company has some major issues. Maybe you should focus on fixing the companies problems rather then accuse the customers you've scanned of lying. That is of course if your interested in being legitimate.

  • Microsoft never directs anyone to us. OmniTech Support is an independent tech support organization and has no contractual relationship with Microsoft. Unlike every organization, we have few complaints from our unhappy customers but the volume of those complaints is a fraction with respect to satisfied customers. We do our best to make our customers satisfied with their purchases. If we make any error, we correct it. Some of all posted allegations in complaints are not with merit or are justifiable. Often, customers might not be right as they sometimes misunderstand the process involved, or what is actually transpired while doing them. We are not blaming anyone but we always provide 24/7 access to our ‘Help Center’ where every customer can air their issues, and we are glad to address and resolve those promptly. We prominently address all the issues and complaints of our customers and resolve their issues by providing the best resolution. But to offer a resolution, we should be aware of the customers and their details. Here, in Scambook.com the details of the complainer, if this person is actually a customer, have not been revealed, so unfortunately, we are not in a position to offer any resolution.

Our technician might have checked the customer’s computer and found some other issues which needed to be addressed and fixed. To allow our technician to work on those issues, the customer has to sign up with us by a paying service fee, which may vary as per the service plan chosen, or if a one-issue fix is selected. We are fee-based organization, so we do not provide help for free. However, in this case, customer can easily find out the answer to her simple question from her computer. Just she has to first select ‘Start’ button and then click on ‘help and Support’ option. Then, she can search the keyword ‘burn’ in search box; which will display the procedure how to burn a CD without downloading a third party software.
