Software Protection LLC scammed my elderly father sometime in December 2012 or January 2013. They had phone interactions with him during which they convinced him that his AOL email had been breached. Software Protection LLC set up a new email for him with hotmail, then told him he owed them $299.99 for their help. He mailed them a check. They called a few months later to say he owed them more money. He had by then realized it was a scam and told them "no way! You scammed me once, not again!" I called AOL and confirmed my father's email with them was fine. During the weeks after this scam, my father went through much mental anguish over his fears about his email and computer security. He bought a new computer, set up a new bank account, went without email for awhile, and invested in extensive computer security software. My father passed away recently which is why the details of this scam are now coming to my attention. It makes me so sad and angry...
