A company in California is using the assumed name "American Financial Services" to rob people who need a short-term loan. There is a LEGIT company called American Financial Services, but they are in Ohio. This company, calling from 909-666-4425 will have a foreign person calling you with a heavy accent and inquire about your need for a loan (which in my case, I had indeed filled out an application for a small payday loan, so I thought it was legit). He then told me that the minimum amount they could offer was $1500 because the loan would be an installment loan for 10 months in which I would owe about $180 a month. He confirmed my information on the application I had filled out and then gave me some confirmation numbers I would have to have in order to call him Loan Manager to discuss the terms of my loan. I decided to investigate because first of all my so-called payment of $180 for 10 months would only make this company profit $300 so that didn't even sound right and then when I was prompted to call another number it got even fishier. I'm glad I checked before I gave out anything else. PLEASE be on the look out for these scammers!
