Central Periodical Services called me back in 2011, they offer me a deal on magazines, I thought was a good deal til I ask him if it was monthly or yearly. He replay with "Monthly payments of 59.99" for so many magazines, that I got to "pick." I wasn't sure, so I told him sure, he push me a lot, and said he wouldn't sign me up til I signed some papers he would later sent. I said ok then, he guarantee me that if I didn't sent those paper back signed with me agreeing with the deal, he wouldn't charge me!
HE LIED TO ME, the only paper I got was a single page stating that I didn't want the subscription, however it only give me 2 days to send it, also they knew I was taking clases and working full time. By the time I had a chance to sent that letter back it was too late(2 days late). I send it anyways, and they started to charge me every month! I called them back again, explaining the situation, and when I finish my sentence, the replay with this "Sir you have to pay the monthly charge til you are done, and we can NOT cancel your service PERIOD!!" after the guys tone of voice change, and got very agressive. And I didn't even got to pick the magazines, they would always change them due to "Shortage from the publishers?"
I told them no to renew my subscription and to never call me again. They did both, I had to call them at least 6 times to no renew my subscription, and on top of that apparently on one of the calls I agreed on another subscription. For a 1 year I paid 100 a month, til I got sick of it, it was unfair from the beginning! I did some research and follow peoples advice of canceling my credit card and get a new one. They sent me letter telling me they will take special procedures to get the money, I don't know if they mean thru the court or what. But they haven't done anything since November I stop giving them money. Please tell others about this, and keep reporting it, I did submit a complain at Federal Trade Commission. I don't know if they did anything, but don't be afraid. That was my problem, every time I tried to cancel, they always made me feel afraid, don't be. I lost about $2300 and they still proclaim I owe them another $1200.
