Saw VW transporter 9 seater in Loot for sale Reg'07
Messaged seller and she emailed back to say she was deployed to Afghanistan as military nurse. The car was advertised for £5,100 I told her that I was offering £4,300 and she accepted as she wanted a quick sale. As she was not in the UK she had made arrangement to have the car delivered to buyer as the car was at present in a Military Base in Grantham, Lincolnshire. She said the money was to be paid to Amazon Flexable payment services (AFPS) who will hold the money while I had up to five days to inspect the vehicle - she assured me that she will not have access to the fund. Amazon flexable emailed me that a file was opened for my transaction and they sent me all the information and terms and condition with an attachment of PDF which contained the details of BARCLAYS account with sort code and account name and number to pay the money into - MR E MEDEIROS. I went to my bank and made the money transfer to the Barclays account. I was instructed to faxed the bank receipt of to confirm payment which I did. She emailed me that Amazon has been in touch with her that they had received the money but it will take 24hrs to clear. she asked for my address and said the car would be delivered on the 23rd December at 4pm. Monday morning I messaged her to please confirm the delivery of car - i received no reply, I also messaged Amazon, again no reply from them either, by 5pm no car I called my bank - they said there was nothing they could do, told to call the action fraud, reported the whole saga to them and they gave me crime reference, called Barclays, they told me to send them all the emails that Nicole sent me - after a week Barclays offered me £10 as a goodwill gesture and I must sign to say that would be the end of the story. my money has gone with no car. Barclays says it is not fraud because I knowingly bought the car. I have never heard of car scam before and I did not believe someone claiming to be working for the MOD, using Amazon logo etc could be fake.....now I know and have learned a very hard expensive lesson....just before Christmas!
