A very energetic and spunky girl came to our apartment last night. I almost never open the door for strangers, but for her I did because something in me felt sadness for this girl. After her speech about coming from another state and getting this awesome opportunity to sell magazine subscriptions for a contest to win a trip for Rome, I was sucked in. She said her sister won a trip the year before and that's who got her into it. I always remember what this girl looked like because she had long blonde hair, kind of looked like Ke$ha and showed me her tattoo on her left arm after she saw mine on my wrist. It was a set of playing cards with blue swirls (not my style). I ended up getting a subscription for my boyfriend because she said if you purchase it as a gift then she'd get more points. She was insanely polite and far too complementary. I even brought it up to her, but she just kind of laughed. I wrote out a check (pros and cons to it) because I didn't have cash (and I'm glad I didn't). When she left I almost felt like I did a good thing, but then I slept on it and had repetitive thoughts about it being a scam. So I went online and saw that they had a slew of complaints and reports and called my bank and put as stop payment on the check. However, in the receipt the girl gave me, it indicates that I have three business days from the time of the transaction to request a refund and also says that, "in the event your check is returned for insufficient funds, we reserve the right to electronically debit your checking account for both the face amount and associated fees. Your payment by check is deemed as acceptance of this electronic check recovery system..." So my bank said if that does occur because of the stop payment that I'm covered to receive all funds that they've taken. Just go with your gut instinct when it doesn't feel right... Back to my old ways...
