This scam took the form of a "gift" offer in reponse to a customer service survey I completed after clicking the "shop" link on the Body Shop website, a company that I had ordered products from in the past. The survey inquired about my shopping experience, past and anticipated future with the Body Shop. After completion, I was offered "free products" with just the cost of shipping. I made sure not to select other offered options and received an e-mail confirmation that my credit card would be charged only $2.99. I became suspicious the next day after receiving a message from this number on my cell phone about an unrelated matter, so I googled the number and saw a number of scam and Better Business complaints. My credit card company also confirmed a $159 charge to my account which I advised was not authorized. I was advised that they would remove the charge but warned that the company may try to put through again so I should watch my statements. I immediately e-mailed, texted, and phoned the number above to confirm cancellation of any order. I also advised the person I spoke to at customer service that I would seek legal action if any charges again appeared. This morning the Body Shop confirmed by e-mail response that they had "no knowledge of such product or company. No such product or company are associated with or working with us in any way." I assume that their website may have been hacked.
