The same old story line as with everyone else that took the bait. I thought I was calling Vipre Internet Security to ask a tech. question. They said they needed to see if that software would be compatible with my computer. That's when the "scenario" started. The remotely went in and led me to believe my computer was being hacked but that they would "fix" it for $199.99. I even asked the guy SO MANY questions! I questioned his "accent" and he said that even though Vipre was in Florida, their tech. support was in New Delhi, India. Looks like he uninstalled my current software and installed Microsoft Essentials which is already FREE.

Within an hour of realizing I had been scammed, I went to my bank and had my credit card stopped and my online banking blocked. I notified the credit bureau and had a fraud alert placed to notify of any charge attempts. I also did a system restore on my computer and changed my computer's password. I was also able to find the REAL Vipre Internet Security in Clearwater, FL who had heard of this scam.

I can only pray that all this company wanted was my money (and that I stopped the charge in time) but how can I be sure that's all they did? Why can't they stop these crooks?!
