On 10/16/2013 I was contacted by Wells Fargo Home Mortgage payment department. After having me give him my name, property address and last 4 digits or my social security number he identified himself as Michael Johnson of the Wells Fargo Seattle payment branch (206) 259-6685
He said that he was authorized to remove my current foreclosure status if I made a payment to my Wells Fargo account of $1,786.00 . He said that my home Modification had been approved and that my next mortgage payment would be due Dec. 1st 2013. He told me that I would receive my documents by mail in the next few days.
After advising me that the call would be monitored and recorded he told me that I should make the payments with 4 GreenDot cards in the following amounts $500.00, $500.00, $500.00 and $286.00, plus the fees of 4.95 per card. Mr. Johnson also called me back with a list of places in my area that I could purchase the GreenDot cards from
After purchasing the GreenDot cards in the amounts I was instructed to purchase I called Mr. Michael Johnson back to provide the card numbers as I had been instructed to do.
After reading me the Wells Fargo disclaimer attempt to collect a debt, etc., and having me identify myself and the property address he requested the GreenDot card numbers and told me that I would receive a conformation number for the payment. For verification I asked to speak with Mr. Johnson supervisor and he transferred me to someone named Sam Smith who identified himself as Mr. Johnson's supervisor and case manager from Wells Fargo payment department.
After speaking with Mr. Sam Smith provided the information as requested by Mr. Johnson .
I had no reason to question the transaction because the payment was within the same amount as proposed to my servitor by NACA and only off by a few dollars.
I made payment to my Wells Fargo Mortgage account.
Mr. Sam Smith called me back with the following number that he said was my conformation number for the payment to my Wells Fargo home mortgage account # 7865152356
The following day I contacted Mr.Cody Tucker (877-573-8264 x-05805) who has been working on my loan modification request.
Mr.Tucker informed me that he did not see any payment from me and that he had no idea of who had contacted me the day before 10/16/2013.
However he did state that the information I gave him may have been right because there are several departments within Wells Fargo branch of home mortgages.
As of this date I have not been refunded my payment or given credit for the payment by Wells Fargo.
