I thought I was calling Microsoft for support with connectivity issues. Turns out I was calling Omni-Tech. I should have known better when I got through right away and was speaking to someone who clearly had no idea what she was talking about. Afterwards, like any of the other complainers, I was retelling my problem to someone via a live-chat. Eventually, I was told that my connectivity issues could not be fixed but that I had many corrupt files due to a polymorphic virus that were able to bypass my Norton Antivirus protection. I was then told that I would have to pay a price of 249.99 to have this issue fixed. When I expressed concern, the "technician" went to speak to his "supervisor" and lowered the price. When I started to realize what was happening, I refused. Afterwards, I saw the courser quickly exit out of all the tabs. Good thing I took pictures of the "assessments" and a part of our conversation with my phone. Upon verification, there are no viruses on my computer and the assessments were
(Inappropriate Content Removed). Now I'm a little worried that I gave these people access to my laptop but I'm taking precautions. I'm hoping they were just after my money. In any case, this whole process costed my 4 hours of my life plus the time afterwards plotting ways to hunt down these "technicians" and give them a good lesson in ethics (obviously this was my first time almost being scammed.)STAY AWAY FROM OMNI-TECH.

  • OmniTech Support is an independent tech support organization which is not related to Microsoft. As per the customer’s comment, it was software activation issue and activation key or token will be saved in Windows System Folders. Hence, Technician took remote access and checked Windows/System32 folder to confirm the exact reason behind the activation issue. Generally, our technician runs a free diagnosis on the customer’s computer to uncover the root of the problem as initial troubleshooting step. Some issues are obvious, such a help being needed in setting up a home network, but in others, the diagnosis may uncover registry errors or malicious software. Let it be new computer, if it connects to Internet, there are chances of viruses infecting your computer; because visiting any unwanted/suspicious websites may download any software which you are unaware of. Also as you are using Internet Explorer or any web browser, it will create temporary files and cookies all the time and suspicious websites will install add-ons, plug in and toolbars automatically which will create issue with computer. We cannot create any “fake” errors, as we are using a respected 3rd-party diagnostic tool. Later our technician might convey the customer about the scanned results and possible errors on the computer.

In this instance, the complainer hasn’t revealed any details with which we can use to determine if this person is actually our customer in the first place. We invite this person to provide some more details like, date of contacting us, the customer ID he was given, or his email address, so that we can investigate further into this particular case. At this situation we are unable to comment anything. We provide quality, affordable technical support, and always try to provide the best services to our customers. That’s why we have earned and maintained an A+ rating from the Better Business Bureau.
