Received a call in Mid September from someone claiming to represent The Atlantic Monthly, saying that I had an outstanding bill for a 3 yr. subscription (my current subscription runs for another 6 months, and I didn't recall authorizing an extension). He said I must make a payment immediately and asked for my debit card information. I don't have one, and when I said so, he said I was lying. I told him that I would pay if he sent me a bill. Insistence on immediate payment and bullying escalated until I hung up on him.

Then I received a bill for $59.99 for a 2 yr. subscription to the Atlantic, and I sent them a check on 10/2/13. Then I found a subscription card from the Atlantic saying I could have 3 years for $49.50. I looked up information on the company (Magazines) this morning and found them on scam book. So this morning I will cancel the check I sent and send them a letter telling them why.
