Last year I booked a flight with wholesale-flights.com to Amsterdam. The website will quote you a few prices, then you have to call their booking agents to actually book the ticket. I originally was sold a direct flight with KLM. Suddenly, a few days later I was contacted by them that the direct flights were all booked, and that I had to go via Chicago, with United Airlines. I complained, and was issued a gift certificate for $200 for travel by April 2012. These past few days I have been trying to book a flight with them to Amsterdam again. First of all the booking agents have been rude, with or without anything being an issue, they have bad phone manners. I was quoted a price to Amsterdam by one booking agent. It was a decent quote, so I wanted to book. When I told him about the gift certificate I had, he put me on hold, and a few minutes later we got disconnected. I called back, got another agent, who quoted me a price that was a little higher than the first once. When I told him about the gift certificate he said he couldn't just honor it. It would depend on the ticket. He told me to email a supervisor, which I did, with the gift cert. attached. I did not hear back from a supervisor. So I called again, and right away asked for a supervisor. By chance??? the first person who answered my call said he was a supervisor. When I told him about the gift certificate and that I wanted to book a flight to Amsterdam, he quoted me a price that was $400 higher than the first quote I had received via wholesale-flights.com. He told me that the price that came up on their website was for group travel only. In between I had done some research and found that I could get a ticket to Amsterdam with KLM directly for the same price as the first quote I received with wholesale-flights.
Basically I needed to conclude that this company was not going to honor my gift certificate. They are lying and manipulating. I am now booking my flight with KLM, and will loose the $200 I was promised last year.
