My mother-in-law was called on her cell phone and told that she had won a $10,000 grant from the Federal Government Grants Dept. She was told that she had to send $189 and then another $850 in order for the funds to be released. She paid $189 and then asked me to borrow $850. I talked to the con man "Kenneth" (the phone operator is Martha) who could not send me anything in writing or direct me to a website with this information.
I had a feeling this was a scam and found this website and others with the same story as hers. I alerted her so she would not spend any more money trying to get a grant. She is closing her bank account as we speak. The phone number to the alleged "Federal Reserve Bank's Wire Transfer Dept" is (202) 657-4564. Keep your money in your pocket!! This is a scam!!
